Installation of the WordPress blog platform is supposed to be easy, and they even promote their “Famous 5-Minute Install”. However, when I reached step 2 of the instructions, “Create a database for WordPress on your web server”, I realized that I had no idea how to go about doing that. Clicking around the WordPRess website and support forums for hints and ideas about how to set up the database, I found the perfect solution in a link to the WordPress Install4Free website. The Install4Free project was started with the principle that the installation of WordPress should not be a hurdle to a person wanting to use the software. They simply offer expert installation of WordPress at your domain for free. How perfect is that! Expert help for free is a rarity these days and I kept looking for the catch or hidden agenda. I couldn’t find one, so I think this will be the way to go to get my blog to where it needs to be. Website statistics for week four show that I seem to have settled in approximately 60 unique visits and 100 pages views a week. It is interesting to think that between the web designer and myself we are generating 103 page views – it doesn’t seem like that much when you are online, but that’s is probably a truth about websurfing. The referring domain was limited to Google, so hopefully I will start to show up on web searches.
